i really liked the community experiment journal that ^Beccalicious posted last month. not saying that we need that exact type of thing all the time from the CVs, but anything that inspires people to share things and connect with each other within the context of literature are really cool.
I would love to see a community article you all contribute to! Sort of like #fella's weekly articles. You guys start out with a theme - and then each of you contribute an article written however you like including whatever you like that is not only informative but entertaining for us writers!
Perhaps do it once a month? For instance - if you chose "Character Development" - perhaps ^NicSwaner's character development process wouldn't be the same as ^thorns'... and perhaps he wouldn't go about the same way of explaining it. We'd get a taste of all of your different processes and would be able to learn from who we relate to and understand more.
That would make an awesome series. If you'd be interested in heading that up, that would be fantastic! (And it's your baby ) I think it'd be similar to other interviews, but about process instead of selves.
I think that a shared updated resource on places to enter poetry competitions (outside of DA) would be amazing. Especially if it could be updated by several people so that it stayed current. I know that is really lazy to want someone to provide a list, but I think fllnthblk used to do it. This may already exist but if it does, where?
I've been trawling NewPages and they do have a lot of calls to submissions and classy mags, etc. Considering that my main resource for stuff is to ask other people, though, I get where you're coming from problem is, I generally avoid poetry! But I'll see if I can find a better coherent listing of it.
Nods, maybe a page on CRLit that anyone with the powah can edit?
I'm just thinking because, I know some people dont like to share the info because the more people who enter the less likely they are to win... but if I knew of one I'd share it because I'd wanna beat the best if I won. There must be a way!
Also, any calls for submissions feel free to just roll my way.
That sounds cool! We couldn't make it universally editable but people could comment with contests. Would you kindly note the group?
Also yeah that's dumb of them. I mean, it should just make you want to be awesome.
NewPages foreveeeer (there's a lot of calls...although not by Fjords Review, which is a bummer because I really want to be in a magazine called Fjords). Duotrope's is still the best for finding stuff like fledgling publications, but ugh money.
Yes I did, but I actually thought collaborations worked better if you did it by couplet or even by stanza (if the stanzas were small 4-liners or something)... That's what I've seen, at least - that way it flows better and makes a LOT more sense
