New Gallery Categories

Thu Aug 14, 2014, 7:14 PM by neurotype:iconneurotype:

As part of the literature gallery restructure, there were a few new categories we wanted to add. We're happy to announce these are available now, with assistance from the wonderful Moonbeam13:

Literature > Characters & Settings > Plot Outlines & Synopses
A description of the overarching plot, or synopsis summarizing the main elements of the story, usually one page or less. Actual stories belong in Prose.

Literature > Prose > Fiction > Historical
Original works that are set in a known historical period, but feature fictional characters or events (e.g. alternate history). Alternative technology such as steampunk should be submitted to Science Fiction.

Literature > Scripts & Screenplays > Comic Scripts
Original scripts written for a graphic novel/comic format.

You may notice there are no example thumbnails...that's because we're waiting for your properly categorized submissions. Wink wink hint hint.

Please spread the word. And if you have any questions about using these, or run into issues (note that *.doc submissions are not, and have never been, allowed), please let us know!

 Sounds good to me!

Most of my writing fits into extremely niche categories like "decopunk" (is that even an official thing?) but calling them sci-fi is close enough. :XD:

 I don't even know when that would be...1920s??

Yep. Basically any story where it's important for the tech to be as beautiful as it is functional, deco style. Like Legend of Korra.

Aaah that's an interesting concept. What powers it?

Electricity ... or, you know, all the amazing analogue tech that didn't need electricity at all. Architecture is a pretty big part of it too. I like to think of it as writing from a time or alternate history I'd actually like to live in. As opposed to a lot of dystopias, fantasies, and historical fiction that make great stories but I'd never visit even on an all-expensive-paid vacation. :XD:

I personally love the Plot Outlines & Synopses one, but I'm cringing on the inside thinking about how it'll get used and abused. :( Probably no more than the other categories, but it was what popped into my head. Heart
