Better Literature Display - limited width by neurotype Better Literature Display - limited width by neurotype
:iconexplosionplz: WARNING - this will limit the max width of text created in Stash to 800px...which will affect all journals, too.

Available for Firefox and Chrome.

Dark version - [link] -> thanks `satvika for suggesting a better title color!
Light version - [link]

This has been bothering me since they revamped it, and I have to thank *iceofwolf for actually prompting me to do something about it. Also thanks *raspil for noticing some other issues

This looks awesome:D
My strategy for now, is to press enter a lot, and force text to go onto the next line.
Only problem on DA pressing enter causes the text not to go onto the line below, but the line below that.
So annoying... Also, when I copy and paste from a word document the spacing still gets compeltly messed up.
I honestly don't blame people for not adding paragraphs into their works. Although, that does make it near impossible to read. (Especially with my poor eyesight)
Therefore, this looks like a really good solution:)

Thanks :)

Oh yeah, if you're using Stash Writer...when you copy and paste from Word, you want to be in 'HTML mode' rather than 'rich editing mode' (under Edit, you can switch to HTML Mode—do that, paste your text, and then switch back to rich text). The problem with hitting enter between lines is that different people can have differently configured screens, so things can look really off and end up unreadable for a different set of people.

oh damn that would be so much nicer to look at. yeah. the pages of a book don't typically stretch out to infinity on a horizontal plane. short burstz of prose, the shape the paragraphs form, the way this site spits them out, have always irked me, slightly. kool.

it's fixed up the margins, but didn't change the background. which isn't a big deal, the light background never bothered me, but the black, would look sweet. and. yeah. no change, there.

The header color was almost invisible with the background I chose and I wanted something less blah than white. :P

Shouldn't this issue be reported to dA? I mean, it's ludicrous to have to read 1900px wide sentences. I believe most optimal is around 500px actually but I guess it also depends on the length.

I suggested it a while ago, and actually there's a way to limit it now (might be beta testing only), though it's not as narrow as I would like :la:

I agree with *MartinSilvertant. The optimal number of per line is about 65, and 500px does a decent job of wrapping about that many characters. I'd get pretty tired of reading just long lines. [link]

It still seems incredibly wide. On my monitor it's 1280px wide and I don't know if it stretches beyond that on a bigger monitor.

Hm?

If it's submitted via Stash, the background won't go dark.

No, I mean the width of the background stays the same but the width of the text is effected.

I know, I didn't want to adjust that for the stash ones because it completely ruins some skins :B It should limit the background width on non-stash submissions, though.

I commented on several #hq and #devBUG journal entries, how full width text deviations (lit and the default journal skin) are design-wise horrible when not being used with a max-width. The longer the text flows the harder it is for the user to read without getting a headache. But well, I guess they don't really consider it an issue
